Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge was founded in 2014 by ADCC Champion and jiu-jitsu icon Orlando Sanchez, with the mission of bringing world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to La Cañada and surrounding communities. Since its opening, GBLCF has grown into the premier BJJ academy in the area, known for its welcoming environment, structured curriculum, and high-level instruction for all experience levels.

After Orlando’s passing, the school was entrusted to his long-time student and friend, Professor Alec. Professor Alec has 20 years of jiu-jitsu training experience, beginning with Orlando’s very first kids’ class, and over 10 years of coaching experience. To Alec, Orlando was both family and mentor, and he is dedicated to honoring his legacy by fostering a welcoming community built on respect, growth, and hard training for everyone who steps onto the mats.
